March is Social Work Month

Social work month, celebrated every March, highlights the enormous positive impact of social workers. The 2020 theme for social work month is “Social Workers: Generations Strong” This theme, selected by the  National Association of Social Workers (NASW), honors the positive contributions social workers have made to this nation over generations.

Social work month helps inform the public, policymakers and legislators about the way our nation’s more than 700,000 social workers help individuals live to their fullest potential.

Social work is one of the fastest growing professions in the United States, with the number of people employed in social work to grow by 11 percent over the next decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It might surprise you to learn that social workers account for the largest group of mental health care providers in the United States!

Social Workers at Consulate Health Care

At Consulate Health Care, we have enormous gratitude for our social workers. They play an integral role in the care of our patients, residents, and families. Our social workers provide therapy and help patients adjust to the changes related to their illness. Social workers can also help individuals deal with grief, loss, life changes, or depression. They are experts in collaborating with other health care professionals, such as physicians and nurses, to develop treatment plans that are individualized to the patient.

This March, and all year long, the Consulate Health Care family extends a heartfelt thank you to all of our wonderful social workers!
