Ashley Wanca is a vivacious 20-year-old woman with a passion for singing and dancing. Above all else, she loves her job as an Activities Assistant at The Pavilion at St.Luke Village, PA. While in high school, she worked as a volunteer at the care center. As part of a community service requirement, she volunteered at the care center for 30 hours to complete her high school project. Ashley was recognized for her dedication and positive attitude, and was offered a permanent position in 2016, where she has worked her way up to her current role.

Ashley’s enthusiasm infects all who know her at The Pavilion. She is patient, takes the time, and makes an effort to make sure residents and co-workers enjoy the activities that their department creates and implements. She mingles and talks to residents on a one-on-one basis. “I listen to their life stories. And when we have singing and dancing activities, I get to show my dance moves to our residents and they love it,” Ashley says.

Ashley lost her maternal grandmother when she was 13-years-old. She still misses her and has wonderful memories of her late grandmother. Ashley recalls how her grandmother would take her shopping and cook spaghetti and meatballs for her. She believes that is the reason she works at The Pavilion. Ashley is simply paying it forward.

Ashley’s inspiration is her Activities Director, Amanda Turner. She says Amanda is a fun and fantastic person but also takes her job seriously. She’s an inspiration and is grateful for her words of wisdom and encouragement.

Ashley is cheerful, a good listener, and loves helping and entertaining the residents and co-workers.

Amanda says, “Ashley is always cheerful, a good listener, and never misses an opportunity to help anyone who needs it.”

All the Core Values are all important to Ashley but Respect has a special place in her heart. “We have to Respect and practice that every day with our residents and co-workers,” Ashley adds.

During her free time, she loves nothing better than dancing and singing her favorite tunes. Ashley’s future plan is to become a German language teacher.
