Consulate Health Care is proud to announce that Toni Dudley, Director of Nursing at Consulate Health Care of New Port Richey, in New Port Richey, FL, was chosen as the 2017 FHCA Nurse Administrator of the Year.

Toni’s experience in healthcare led her to become a DON at a young age, which has allowed her to continue her nursing career for over 30 years. She joined Consulate Health Care of New Port Richey after long-time work colleague and friend, Dan Frenden, became the Executive Director in 2014 and asked her to join his team. Since then, the two have led the care center in earning some of health care’s highest recognitions including the Eli Pick Leadership Award for two consecutive years and, most recently, earning a 5-star overall CMS rating.

“Honestly what motivates me [to come to work every day] – even when I’m not feeling good – is the people that I work with and the residents that we serve.” Dudley said. “Dan takes care of everybody, and it may sound sappy, but the difference that we make in these patients’ lives is very impactful. It’s not a job; it’s who we are.”

The Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) was founded in 1954 and has since had a strong history of leadership and advocacy. The awards – announced to their respective recipients on June 1 at the annual Long Term Care Excellence in Nursing Awards Luncheon – recognize the role that nurse leaders play in quality improvement to long term care communities.

Eligibility for this award is based on at least 30 months as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), as well as being employed at an FHCA member center for at least two years in a managerial position. In addition, prospective winners are judged based on varied areas of expertise including clinical practice, person-centered care, continuous quality improvement, customer responsiveness, leadership and communication.

In addition to the awards given to the winners at the annual Long Term Care Excellence in Nursing Awards Luncheon, Executive Director Dan Frenden presented an award to Toni on behalf Consulate Health Care. There will also be a duplicate award proudly displayed at the care center to recognize her achievement.

Consulate Health Care is delighted to have Ms. Dudley in our family of leaders and caregivers.
