Celebrating Christmas in July is a fun way to bring holiday spirit into a month when the weather is just the opposite of a December winter wonderland. This July, with the COVID-19 pandemic, a little holiday cheer was greatly appreciated by the residents and staff at Envoy of Woodbridge, in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Christmas in July at Envoy of Woodbridge came to fruition when the director of community life at the care center, Victoria Cole-Rolon, approached the local IKEA to see if they might want to do something to brighten the spirits of the residents. IKEA responded in a big way by donning their Christmas garb and delivering 100 plastic bins to the care center. Each bin contained slippers, blankets, and a set of markers to entertain the patients. They even brought Swedish chocolates for the care center staff!

The activities staff at Envoy of Woodbridge kept the holiday spirit alive by putting on their Christmas hats and accessories and gleefully distributing the boxes among the residents. The residents were elated by the gifts, and the special deliveries brought a light to their day. The kind gesture was even featured in the local newspaper.  Thank you to IKEA of Woodbridge for your generosity!
