Twenty–six years ago when Beth Medley walked into Country Meadow, she never thought it would become her home. When Beth first started working there, Country Meadow was not what it is today. It was a small, older building with much fewer amenities than it now has. This did not deter Beth, as her passion for her residents is what kept her coming back to work each day.

Over the years, Beth has done more than just her typical job duties as a now LPN. In the beginning, she used to cook dinner for the residents, wash dishes, do the laundry, get her residents ready for bed, and even clean plastic med cups after every shift. She did not perceive these tasks as work, but as something she just enjoyed doing because of the personal relationships she developed with the residents. She says “I may get behind on my day to day tasks sometimes because I enjoy talking and spending that time with the residents. I find it more important to be there for them when they need me. I can always do my paperwork when they’re sleeping or visiting with family”.

This photo was taken last year, when Beth celebrated her 25th anniversary at Country Meadow.

June 6, 2016 marked Beth’s 26th year with Consulate Health Care. And although many things have changed about Country Meadow, one thing remains the same…Beth’s compassion towards not only the residents, but her co-workers. When asked what her favorite part about working at Country Meadow is, Beth replied “the residents, and my co-workers”. What motivates her is seeing others happy and having a good time. If someone has a smile on his or her face, then Beth has done her job.

Despite the lives that Beth has touched with her positive and outgoing demeanor, she remains incredibly humble. To Beth, she is just doing her job, and the relationships that she has built over the years are her greatest reward. “I have met a lot of people that I run into around town that I have met through my work. Most of them friends or family members of residents who I now consider my own family.”

Beth feels that the residents she sees every day are her family and they feel the same. Residents send her birthday cards, joke with her, and compliment her daily for her incredible dedication and uplifting outlook on life.  Everyone at Country Meadow adores Beth and we are so grateful to have such an honest, respectful, and hardworking person in our Consulate family. Beth embodies our Core Values and truly lives by our mission statement of “Providing Service with our Hearts and Hands”.
