Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center celebrates Lisa Weeks, one of Consulate Health Care’s five ACE Award recipients.

You don’t need a pair of ruby red slippers to know that there really is no place like home. No matter where home is for you, being there is about celebrating your roots and the people that you have grown and interacted with for as long as you can remember. It’s where a neighbor is like family, and there’s always a friend to be found.

Lisa Weeks, our Medical Records and Central Supply Coordinator at Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation in Floyd, VA, is no stranger to making her residents feel at home. Because of her incredible passion and dedication to the people of Skyline Care Center, she recently received Consulate Health Care’s coveted ACE Award for personifying our Core Values in every facet of her life. For Lisa, Floyd County is home, but the residents are the reason she’s rooted so deeply there. She holds this community close to her heart and is always searching for and finding new ways to strengthen relationships with those around her.

Creating a comfortable, home-like environment for residents may be part of Lisa’s job description, but for her it’s just natural. She’s been known to donate money to the residents’ bingo fund, spend time with residents on her day off, and even to anticipate new resident’s arrival and ordering specific equipment before being asked to do so. Her generosity and thoughtfulness doesn’t stop with her residents, either. Her co-workers were especially struck by her response to learning of another caregiver’s cancer diagnosis. Lisa, first to make it known that she would always be a shoulder to lean on, also began raising money to help cover the high cost of care by hand knitting scarves to sell.

The Skyline staff say she is passionate about her position because “she doesn’t know any other way to be.” Just ask Skyline’s Business Office Coordinator Amanda Moles: “Outside of work Lisa extends her compassion, integrity, and above all, her passion to each and every person she comes into contact with,” she said. “If Lisa knows someone is in need, then she will do what she can to make sure that need is met.”

We’re thankful for caregivers like Lisa who have a natural ability to make anyone feel at home. She goes out of her way to make sure that everyone is well taken care of and it’s that passion for others and her work that made her an ideal candidate for and worthy recipient of Consulate’s ACE Award. Lisa makes our residents feel cared for and lets her co-workers know they have someone to lean on when the going gets tough. Thanks to Lisa, everyone at Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center feels like home is never too far away.
