Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be royalty? Well, the Social Services Director, Randee Bumbera, at Consulate Health Care’s Parkview Care Center in Fremont, OH got the opportunity when her co-workers appointed her the “Queen for a day.” The idea of “royalty” originally came from the regional director of admissions, who said the terminology is meant to describe someone who has gone above and beyond their regular responsibilities and sets an example by demonstrating a great work ethic.

In Randee’s case, “above and beyond” may be an understatement. While she was already an exemplary employee, she also took it upon herself to embrace multiple opportunities to go above the call of duty for her co-workers and residents. queenforadaytextOne example of Randee’s caring nature was her conversation with a patient who had come to the care center to recover from an injury but wanted to leave before the wound had properly healed. After talking through the benefits and drawbacks of leaving before it was time, the patient decided to stay on their own accord. “For some reason, when Randee gives advice, people just take it to heart,” said Cheryl Miller, Admissions Director.

That same week, Randee volunteered to cover a STNA’s shift and offered support to the marketing team by spreading the word about their upcoming annual dog show, a community event that judges an average of 25 breeds of dogs. “Randee was awesome during the dog show. She tallied votes from our celebrity judges, helped get residents ready for the show, and also helped register participants,” continued Cheryl.

While this was the first time anyone had been crowned as “royalty” at Parkview, it seems to be a new tradition that will honor the actions of those who go out of their way for the benefit of others. In addition to proclaiming her a “Queen for a day,” Randee was nominated for the Integrity Core Value. Consulate defines the Core Value of integrity as “doing my job to the best of my ability even when no one is looking.”  Cheryl said. “Randee embodies that with the way she conducts herself in her daily responsibilities. At times, she is dealt a difficult situation and she still manages to persevere and fulfill her role as social services director. I am honored to have her on my team!”

Thank you Randee for your compassion, integrity, and generosity. Your helpfulness and caring nature never go unnoticed. We’re proud to have you as a part of the Consulate Health Care family.
