There is no denying the comfort of family. No matter what it means to you, to have a family is to always have a support system rooting for you and playing an important role in your happiness. We understand the importance of fostering a supportive, nurturing environment, and with employees like Kristine Bridges, it’s easy to make every resident feel like they’re part of one big, happy family.
Kristine Bridges, or “Kris” as her friends and colleagues call her, is a Certified Nursing Assistant at Destin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Destin, FL. She received Consulate Health Care’s prestigious Ambassador of Care and Excellence Award (ACE) for her model service to our residents and her desire to make every person she meets feel like a welcomed member of an ever-growing family. For Kris, developing and nurturing relationships is the most important part of her job. Whether it’s encouraging a patient to push through a particularly tough rehabilitation session or making a point to spend time with residents who no longer have family able to visit them, Kris never fails to go out of her way to make each resident feel loved and supported. The compassion she gives to not only the residents who are struggling, but every resident she comes across, allows each of them to be heard and feel understood, knowing that they are in the best possible hands.
But it’s not just moral support that Kris is generous with. Her desire to put and keep a smile on the faces of residents and colleagues has taken numerous forms. As a supporter of her colleagues, Kris has come to the rescue of stranded employees suffering from car trouble and has helped others find a new place to live when relocating. She’s donated various personal items for residents from clothing and small appliances to beauty supplies and even a television for a resident who couldn’t afford one. Kris is always willing to jump in wherever she is needed, and never misses an opportunity to get to know a new face or turn on some tunes to dance around with residents.
Although Kris has proven that she encompasses all of our Core Values, her compassion towards those who need a support system is what sets her apart. Kris makes an enormous difference in every resident’s life, going the extra mile with selfless donations and contributions of time and energy to her care center in order to help keep smiles on everyone’s faces. For Kris, the people she’s surrounded by are more than just residents and fellow staff members; they’re her own irreplaceable, chosen family.
