This week, Consulate Health Care celebrates National Assisted Living Week. During this annual observance, we honor our different assisted living centers and recognize their importance in our community. Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995, this celebration provides a unique way to acknowledge the role of assisted living centers, staff, volunteers, residents, and communities.
Consulate Health Care has six assisted living communities around the state of Florida and Pennsylvania: Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, in Pottsville, PA; Brentwood Retirement Community, in Lecanto, FL; Keystone Villas Assisted Living Center, in Kissimmee, FL; The Villas at Lakeside Oaks, in Dunedin, FL; The Brookshire, in Melbourne, FL; and Beneva Lakes Assisted Living Center, in Sarasota, FL. These centers care for hundreds of residents and patients, providing them with quality services day in and day out.
Assisted living centers provide residents with the opportunity to live independently while receiving help on day-to-day tasks and succor in times of hardships. The staff at these facilities help our seniors with housekeeping services, meals, and assistance with showering, grooming, medication, and much more. This assistance allows seniors to maintain the ability to live on their own while getting the help they need to do so.
Living at these centers can bring many positive benefits to the residents’ lives. Norma Maldonado, executive director at Keystone Villas Assisted Living, explains that the “staff develop relationships with our residents and ensure our seniors that we care and that we’re family. We want them to feel loved, safe and secure here.”
In addition to these benefits, “being in a group gives more chances to meet others and promote meaningful companionships,” said Linda Arbutine, executive director at Villas at Lakeside Oaks. “An assisted living facility allows residents opportunities to enjoy leisure activities as well as creating lasting memories.” These facilities provide seniors with the opportunity to live their best lives and enjoy their days connecting with others and receiving the help they need to be healthy and well.
This year, the celebration’s theme is Compassion, Community, Caring. NCAL’s Executive Director, Scott Tittle, explained that “it reflects the hard work and dedication of all the essential caregivers in assisted living communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also represents the importance of family and remaining connected, even when we could not physically be together.”
Consulate Health Care wants to highlight all the extraordinary assisted living caregivers and thank them for their hard work. We are grateful for their commitment to providing services with their hearts and hands!
