As the Rehab Unit Manager, Lawana Green is an exceptional leader. With passion and integrity, she leads the rehabilitation team at Bardmoor Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation to provide residents with the best quality service. With her position, Lawana makes it a priority to be there for her residents every step of their journey and ensure she is doing what is needed for them to succeed consistently.
She has been a part of the team at Bardmoor Oaks for over six years and truly enjoys working with the staff and especially the residents. As a leader, Lawana is constantly helping her coworkers and new staff around the center. She believes working collaboratively is what enables them to provide the best service to each of the residents.
Lawana started working in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) years ago. After having her children and spending some time as a stay-at-home mother, she decided to go back to school to further her career and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her primary motivation to come back to work in the field of nursing were the residents and patients. “I love being here for them,” she explained.
At Bardmoor Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation, her favorite aspect of her job is being able to form a special connection and relationship with her residents and nurses. “Every day is a learning process, and what I enjoy the most is being here and helping anyone who needs it,” Lawana said. Megan, a nurse at Bardmoor Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation, is an example of that. Lawana served as a mentor to Megan and encouraged her to do her best. “It’s amazing to see her grow into this amazing nurse that goes above and beyond to help residents and others,” Lawana explained.
Lawana’s ability to show compassion and empathy toward everyone she comes in contact with daily makes her a go-to person for everyone. She is always asking everyone about their days and figuring out how to make them brighter. Her coworkers at the center also described her as a role model and exceptional leader. “Her dedication to her residents and staff is exemplary,” said Rhiannon Potter, Director of Clinical Services at the care center.
She knows how important it is to show empathy when working in long-term care, especially in the rehabilitation unit. Lawana is an excellent example of Consulate’s core values. We are grateful to have her on our team and for all she has does to help our residents. Thank you, Lawana!
