Faith Shifflet is what many like to call a “go-to girl.” No matter the task, she can always handle it. After over a decade at Kings Daughters Community Health & Rehab in Staunton, VA, she has managed to work almost every role at the care center, allowing her to obtain several valuable skills throughout the process. From a CNA, to transportation, to wound care, and now a staffing coordinator, Faith has done it all.

"...she has managed to work almost every role at the care center"

Her can-do attitude and upbeat spirit is motivating to not only her colleagues, but also to the patients. She builds relationships with her co-workers by being there to help when needed and earning their trust. Faith strongly believes that caring for others is a team effort everyone should be involved. She said, “I help them, they help me. At the end of the day, the residents are happy, and they meet their goals.” She loves working with her team and interacting with others. She even helps other buildings when it’s needed. She is willing to jump in to help at any time.

The team is something that Faith likes the most about working at Kings Daughters. But, she takes pride in caring for her patients and they are always number one in her books. Her biggest motivator is coming in to care for the patients and knowing that by helping her team, she is also helping the patients. She said, “Our staff is essential to providing care.”  To Faith, the people she comes to work for are the most important part of her job.

Faith likes making a difference at work, whether it is for a patient or someone she works with.  She said “When it’s tough, I like showing there is light at the end of the tunnel, and that we will get there.” Providing support to those who need it is what keeps Faith going in difficult times. She has sincere compassion for those around her and it’s one of the Core Values she thinks is the most important to have.

Faith’s compassion is also what has given her the chance to have many impactful relationships throughout her career. She has been known to get very close to several patients and to spoil them. These individuals have given great meaning to Faith’s life and the relationships she has developed have changed her perspective. She said “Sometimes we are the only family they have.”

Even though Faith has done so much for Kings Daughters and has a lot of experience, she finds that there is always room for growth. When asked if she would want to explore any other role at the care center, she said, “I want to go to nursing school. I am hoping I can do that in the next year or so.”

Faith’s determination is inspiring to say the least. We truly hope she goes back to school, and continues to provide compassionate care to all of our patients. Thank you Faith for being dependable, positive, and upbeat each and every day!
