CONSULATE HEALTH CARE OF SARASOTA ACHIEVES A 5-star CMS RATING
Sarasota, Florida (June 03, 2016) – Consulate Health Care of Sarasota, an 81-bed skilled nursing center located in Sarasota, FL, has achieved five stars in Quality Measures and an overall five-star CMS rating. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help families and caregivers compare post-acute providers more easily. CMS uses an overall scale of one to five stars, and a separate rating for each of the following three sources of information: Health Inspection ratings that contain information from the last three years of onsite inspections, including standard surveys and complaint surveys; Staffing which is rated on the number of hours of care on average provided every day, by nursing staff, to each resident and their level of need; and lastly, the Quality Measures rating which evaluates information on eleven different physical and clinical measures for patients and residents.
For Consulate Health Care, a leading national provider of senior healthcare services and the largest post-acute provider in Florida, achieving a CMS five-star rating shows a commitment to providing the best possible care to those they serve on a daily basis. Consulate’s employees strive every day to make a positive difference in the lives of those entrusted to their care. This national recognition proves their dedication to caring for patients and residents like family, while living out their mission of “Providing Service with Our Hearts and Hands”.
Care centers with five stars are considered to provide care and service that is above average quality. When asked about being recognized with a CMS five-star rating, Executive Director, Joshua Englin, LNHA, stated, “Customer service is a key indicator and drives not only the quality of care, but the quality of work performed by our employees. Continued focus on clinical outcomes, customer service, and overall patient and employee satisfaction is key.”
After receiving their five-star recognition in April of 2016, care center morale of course has increased. “As you know, to achieve such a rating takes dedication to quality and requires consistency to that quality; to be recognized for all of the passionate work our staff provides naturally touches them deeply,” noted Englin.
The caregivers at Consulate Health Care of Sarasota are a close-knit family. There are consistent reminders on quality with the weekly and monthly audits that care center management holds to assure accuracy. Having these reviews and team meetings with an open floor discussion aids their familial environment, encouraging each individual to be the best leader they can be. Englin also has constant employee engagement activities in place to reward staff for the outstanding care that they provide. “As a family, their passion for our industry translates into the care that our patients and residents receive on a daily basis,” Englin concluded.
