Consulate Health Care held it’s first-ever Virtual Leadership Conference in early February 2021. The three-day event offered multiple engaging and highly educational sessions to attendees. This year, the conference focused on “The Power of Zero,” and the team provided numerous pertinent discussions and relevant sessions on the topic. Many attendees described it as one of the most captivating conferences the company has ever put together.

Throughout the three days of the conference, leaders recognized members of the Consulate family whose dedication and commitment was extraordinary. A few of these recognitions went to the Executive Directors and Directors of Clinical Services from both the Florida and Mid-Atlantic divisions.

In order to decide who would receive the recognitions for EDs and DCSs of the Year, critical criteria were evaluated. Some of the key points that collaborated to the decision were the survey outcomes, premium wage dollars, A/R, return to the hospital, overall 5-star rankings, employee turnover, and new patient satisfaction evaluation.

For the Florida division, Rebecca Hennigan was awarded Director of Clinical Services of the Year. Rebecca joined the Spring Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center team in 2016 as the Assistant Director of Clinical Services. She brings to the center her experienced nursing skills along with her compassion and dedication to the career. Her favorite quote says, “it is not how much you do, but how much love you put in the doing,” by Mother Teresa, which perfectly sums up her compassionate approach to nursing and leadership. “I am honored to receive such an award,” she said. Rebecca feels much appreciated and is happy that her “dedication to the position, residents, staff, and center was recognized.”

Awarded Executive Director of the Year for the Florida division was Travis Reed. Travis is described as a high-achieving, results-focused leader with a consistent record of significantly improved facility performance. In 2020, he demonstrated this impressive track record by taking Countryside Rehab and Healthcare Center from a 1 to 4 Star care center, while leading the facility through an AHCA COVID-19 contract to accept only positive COVID patients. To make this achievement even more remarkable, they maintained an employee infection rate of less than 0.5%. “I am very proud to have received this award, but the credit does go to our department heads and front-line staff,” said Travis. “That is why I am taking the entire check and using it for the staff. I look forward to settling to whatever the new norms will be for this year.”

Moving to the Mid-Atlantic division, Olivia Curtis received the Director of Clinical Services of the Year recognition. Olivia is started her journey at Clay County Care Center in 2012 as a CNA. A few months later, she obtained her RN degree from Tri-County Community College and became DCS at the center in August of 2015. Olivia also has her BSN from Western Carolina University. She is known for having a heart “that is too big for her own good” and goes above and beyond to make her staff a priority, which explains her 92% nursing staff retention.

For the Mid-Atlantic Executive Director of the YearBrandi Semones was awarded. Brandi joined the Consulate family as an AIT seven years ago at Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center. She has worked helping all but two care centers in North Carolina. She has even traveled to Pikesville, Maryland, to offer assistance at that center. Brandi holds the longest consecutive tenure in the state at seven straight years. She believes Consulate feels like family, which is why she is “grateful to have a team that always works together,” she said. Brandi says that the center’s accomplishments are not only the EDs but also everybody involved, and that is why she is so honored to receive this award.

It is an honor to be able to recognize members of our Consulate family and their incredible achievements. Thank you to Rebecca, Travis, Olivia, and Brandi for your commitment to excellence and the standard you set for what it means to be a leader at Consulate.
