Hunter Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte, NC recently earned the AHCA Bronze Award, which demonstrates the care center’s continuous commitment to quality care. The process for earning the award involved a rigorous application process, and for Hunter Woods, completing the application was a natural extension of the work they were already doing daily in the care center.

“We looked at what we were trying to accomplish and improve in the care center, and made a plan for the next few years to reach those goals,” explained Shannon Holliday, the executive director at Hunter Woods. Holliday said that being very specific was key to preparing a successful application. She has been the executive director of the care center for seven years, and has been working daily with her department heads and entire staff on improving processes and outcomes. So, she said, “I knew the movement we were trying to make.”

Holliday gave the credit for earning the award to her team. “We are not a one-man show. We talk about everything as a team, and hold everyone accountable.” When the care center heard the news about earning the bronze award, the entire staff was thrilled.

The care center is now looking forward to working toward the AHCA Silver Award, which is the next step and represents achievement in quality.
