Wise beyond her years

You never think that someone who is so young could possibly have the wisdom and knowledge to truly understand what it means to support a staff and the work that they do each day. It just so happens that one young employee is wise beyond her years. Her passion for her work goes beyond that of someone her age.

Ashley has only been at The Village at Harbor Pointe in Salisbury, MD since May of 2016. But, her ability to see beyond the day-to-day tasks of her job makes it seem as though she has worked there for decades.  Although her title is business office manager, she takes on many additional duties. She handles many human resources issues, and finds herself managing several administrative tasks at once. She is the Mary Poppins of the care center, magically doing things that many would find themselves overwhelmed by. But, the chaos never deters Ashley from keeping a smile on her face, and having the energy of a young child.

Ashley’s executive director recommended her for our CHIRPs blog because Ashley exhibits several Core Values on a regular basis, but mainly passion. There is a true passion behind everything that Ashley does. She is sincere about what she does, because she absolutely loves the interaction that she gets to have with the employees. Many times, our employees tell us that their interaction with the residents and patients at our care centers is what drives them. And although that is very much valued, it’s also important to think about the employees who care for those residents and patients.

What makes Ashley so unique is that she can see why it is paramount that the employees are supported so that they can provide the best possible care for our residents. Ensuring that the employees themselves feel important allows them to do their job to the best of their ability. We asked Ashley how she works with the employees and she said, “I go above and beyond to make the employees feel valued. I want to make sure that the employees feel appreciated.“ It’s clear that Ashley recognizes the advantages of caring for the staff as well as our residents, and it’s also evident that she believes in what we do at Consulate Health Care.

We wanted to find out what makes Ashley so passionate about what she does each day aside from the employees she works with. She said, “I’m so happy here, and happy with what I do. I can definitely see myself working here for a very long time. I’m going to stick around.” When Ashley found out she was nominated for this blog, she was absolutely blown away. She said, “I am very honored. I just try to do my best every day, and try to improve things for the future.”

Ashley exudes all of the important parts of working in healthcare and even more so with the wisdom and energy she brings to work each day. We are so honored and thankful that she has chosen to work at The Village at Harbor Pointe. Great job Ashley!
