LAKESIDE OAKS CARE CENTER ACHIEVES 5-STAR QUALITY MEASURES RATING
Dunedin, Florida (June 01, 2016) – Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help families and caregivers compare post-acute providers more easily. CMS uses an overall scale of one to five stars, and a separate rating for each of the following three sources of information: Health Inspection ratings that contain information from the last three years of onsite inspections, including standard surveys and complaint surveys; Staffing which is rated on the number of hours of care on average provided every day, by nursing staff, to each resident and their level of need; and lastly, the Quality Measures rating which evaluates information on eleven different physical and clinical measures for patients and residents. Quality Measures ratings are based on resident assessment data that show how well the nursing home cares for residents’ needs.
As a part of the Consulate Health Care family, Lakeside Oaks Care Center, a 93-bed skilled nursing center located in Dunedin, FL, has achieved five stars in Quality Measures. Executive Director Taylor Womack and Director of Clinical Services, Chris Johnson have been working towards a culture change over the course of the last year. “We believe there is a lot of truth behind the simplicity of happy staff make for happy residents. We all play a very important role in order to have successful outcomes and give great care. After all, it takes a village!”, stated Womack.
The Lakeside Oaks team has seen the effects of the positive changes, but a strong line of communication aids in that. “When the team celebrates success together, the morale is strong and we are able to reflect on the hard work we did together to accomplish our goals,” commented Womack. “Chris and I want to communicate with the staff on outcomes. Because we communicate with the entire team, staff know the importance of a positive star rating. There is a sense of pride by the entire team. We are a little facility, but we are a mighty team!”
Chris Johnson, DCS, believes in leading by example. “Work hard, work as a team and make the resident your number one priority. We discuss these three components as early as the interviewing process. We want our team to know that by doing these three things, we can make positive changes and deliver great outcomes,” concluded Johnson.
For Consulate Health Care, a leading national provider of senior healthcare services and the largest post-acute provider in Florida, this Quality Measures rating is evidence of a commitment to providing the best possible care to those they serve on a daily basis. Consulate’s employees strive every day to make a positive difference in the lives of those entrusted to their care. This national recognition proves their dedication to caring for patients and residents like family, while living out their mission of “Providing Service with Our Hearts and Hands”.
