Tis’ the season for giving! The holidays are here and the spirit of giving is warming the hearts of residents at Rio Pinar Health Care thanks to staff, family members, and local community members. During this year’s Rio Pinar holiday social, each resident was blessed with a gift and the reminder that the care center staff is their family, too.

tree 1We would like to recognize Luis Lopez, Activities Director at Rio Pinar Health Care in Orlando, FL. Luis planned the holiday social and made the season a little brighter for our residents, staff and children in need.

For the annual holiday social, staff at Rio Pinar decorate the care center, give presents to residents, and even plan a surprise appearance from Mr. and Mrs. Claus. According to Luis, “this event is especially meaningful because it makes residents feel important and not forgotten. Some resident families live in other states so it’s an opportunity to show them they have family here.”

Luis and the Activities Department went above and beyond this year by including foster children in this giving initiative. Working with a staff member who is a foster parent and the Adoptive Parents Association of Osceola County, the Rio Pinar Health Care launched their first annual “Holiday Angel Tree.” They’ve already received donations from care center staff members and the community, but to ensure that every foster child participating receives a gift, they’ll need all the holiday donations they can get.

It’s people like Luis who bring our Core Values to life. His dedication to bring joy to the Rio Pinar residents and make this holiday season even more special is not only appreciated, but truly humbling. We want to thank Luis for demonstrating compassion in his work and helping spearhead two giving initiatives. Happy Holidays to Luis, the Rio Pinar staff members, the community and to all those who have made this holiday season that much brighter!
